The post-digital era will witness vigorous development of digital new media art. The nourishment of science and technology development will enable digital media art to flourish as never before. New digital media will surpass any other era's works in rich scientific knowledge, intensive visual or audio composition, and far-reaching artistic conception.

In my opinion, the fundamental feature of the post-digital era is "true personalization," which manifests in aspects of the abundance of individual choices and coordination and cooperation between people and various environments. Mass media will no longer be a channel of information but an extension of human senses. The world will become so small as computer networks connect people. The information technology revolution will completely change the way people work and live. Also, many values of countries and nations will change, giving way to the ones of large and small electronic communities.

Metaverse, a "new Blue Ocean" of the post-digital era, is an increasingly attractive concept nowadays. In recent years, we have seen a proliferation of virtual environments, such as online games and social media platforms. Metaverse is still in its early stages; we can only interact with virtual objects or environments through augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) technologies. For example, people can use AR glasses to see virtual objects against real-world backgrounds or to enter an entire virtual environment through a VR headset.

 

Immersion in virtual environments is already not a dream, thanks to technological advancements. We've seen a lot of web metaverse created online. Such virtual worlds allow players to interact with others and the environment in more novel and exciting ways. Metaverse has the potential to create new opportunities for social interaction, entertainment, and education. It can also assist exploration in new frontiers of science and technology, opening up new possibilities for innovation and discovery. In the future, people will have electronic offices, digital lives, a virtual world and society. People will control their virtual environment around them and interact more naturally and comfortably in the metaverse, integrating the virtual and real worlds. But after all, it is the future, and who knows what will happen in the end?

 

This work is to give full play to all imagination, depict the future metauniverse scene, and look forward to the "true personalization" that the post-technological echo may bring about. It aims to predict how future inheritors of new media art will use the powerful digital technology in the post-digital era to incorporate their thoughts on the future development of art, culture, and society.
